Results come from live Google Maps searches run at each grid point when you click. Rankings move from one search to the next, so treat this as a snapshot. How it works.

The guarantee covers our own work. Google decides rankings, and we don't promise them.We work with one company per trade in each area, because the Google Maps top 3 is zero-sum: when one company moves up, another drops. We won't help two companies compete for the same neighborhoods.
What is the map pack?
When someone searches "plumber near me" or "AC repair," Google usually shows a small map with three businesses under it, below any ads. That box is the map pack, also called the local pack or 3-pack. Which three businesses appear depends on where the person is standing when they search, so a shop can own its own neighborhood and be invisible two towns over.
How the snapshot works
- You pick your trade and the search to check, then confirm your Google listing.
- We run that search from 25 points on a 5-by-5 grid 2 miles apart, centered on your shop, reaching about 4 to 6 miles out.
- Each dot shows where Google ranked you from that spot: green for the top 3, amber for 4 to 10, red for 11 to 20, grey if you weren't in the top 20.
- Tap any dot to see the three businesses Google showed there. Under the map, we list who wins the most spots across the grid, with their reviews.
What's typical: the Three-Mile Map study
In October 2026 we ran 7,056 Google Maps searches for 138 HVAC, plumbing, pest control and garage door companies around Charlotte. Weighted by where people live, the typical company's top-3 share fell quickly with distance from the shop. These figures combine all four trades:
| Distance from the shop | All four trades: share of homes that see the company in the top 3 |
|---|---|
| At the shop | About 70% |
| 3.3 miles | About 25% |
| 4.7 miles | About 10% |
| 6.7 miles | About 1% |
Each trade differs. Pest control held up best at the shop (about 90%) and plumbing the least (about 59%), so the table under your result uses your own trade's figures. Source: The Three-Mile Map, Isoline Growth, October 2026 (138 companies, 144 scans).

Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The snapshot shows your results on screen without asking for an email. If you want the full 49-point scan, you can request it at the end.
Why do my results look different from what I see when I search?
Google ranks map results by relevance, distance and prominence, and it personalizes results. A search from your shop shows you one spot. The snapshot searches from 25.
Which search should I check?
Pick the job you most want more of. For HVAC that's often "AC repair" or "heat pump repair" by season, or "AC replacement" if you want more change-outs; for plumbing, "plumber", "emergency plumber" or "water heater replacement"; for pest control, "pest control" or "termite control"; for garage doors, "garage door repair" or "garage door spring repair."
Why does my full scan look different from my snapshot?
Both read live Google Maps results the same way. The snapshot checks 25 spots within about 6 miles. The full scan checks 49 spots, 3.3 miles apart and out to about 10 miles each way, so it covers more ground. Google's answer also shifts from one read to the next, mostly at spots where you're near the top 3 but not solidly in it, so one read can show you 3rd and the next one 5th. When the two differ, go by the full scan, since it's the wider and more recent read.
Do you store my results?
We keep each result for 24 hours so a repeat look is instant. If you email yourself the link, we keep your name, email and that link to send one reminder.
