How to choose a garage door marketing agency: 10 questions for one of Google's most spam-heavy trades

Pick the garage door marketing agency that has a plan for fake listings, has taken clients through Google's advanced verification, raises your booking rate, and keeps your Google and ad accounts in your name. Booking is the weak spot: garage door companies booked 31% of calls in ServiceTitan's data, against 42% across trades.1 Of the 29 agencies on Google's first page for garage door agency searches, 7 offered guarantees, refunds or performance terms.2

What should a garage door marketing agency deliver?

Garage door repair is one of the most spam-heavy categories on Google, which is why Google requires advanced verification before garage door companies can advertise.4 In May 2026 the Justice Department, on a referral from the FTC, and the State of Illinois sued a company and its CEO, alleging thousands of fake listings for plumbing, heating and cooling, and garage door repair.5,6 A garage door agency has to protect the calls you already earn before it buys new ones.

Then it has to book them. Spring and opener calls are urgent and price-shopped, and garage door companies booked 31% of calls in ServiceTitan's June 2022 data, tied for the lowest of any trade.1 Raising that to the 42% cross-trade figure would book about a third more jobs from the same calls.

Cost per booked job = cost per lead ÷ booking rate

In a small SearchLight sample of 12 garage door contractors from early 2026, Local Services Ads leads averaged $49 and 38% were booked: about $129 per booked job, or about $198 per paying customer, since 25% became paying customers.7

What we found on Google's first page for garage door agency searches

We scored the 29 agencies that ranked on page 1 for six garage door agency searches on October 18, 2026.2

Isoline page-one audit, October 18, 2026. "Not stated" isn't proof an agency doesn't do something.2

Garage door agencies lean on leads and guarantees. 10 of 29 led with leads or calls as the result, the highest share of any trade, and 7 offered refunds, lead targets or performance terms. Fewer than half showed a client result with a number.2

Red flags in a garage door marketing pitch

  • A ranking guarantee. Google's own guidance to business owners says: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." It also warns about anyone claiming a "special relationship" with Google.10 In our audit, 1 of 100 agencies guaranteed Google rankings and 1 guaranteed AI citations; 14 more offered refunds, lead targets, performance terms or a general results promise. Refunds and fee terms are a different and more reasonable thing to ask about.2
  • Reports built on impressions, clicks and "visibility." They're easy to grow and hard to bank. Ask for calls, booked jobs and revenue by source, pulled from your own field software.
  • Nobody asks about your capacity. An agency that doesn't ask how many techs you have, how full the board is and which jobs you want more of is selling a package, not solving your problem. Google tells owners the same thing: a good SEO should ask what makes your business unique and who your competitors are.10
  • Extra Google profiles in towns where you have no staffed office. Some agencies pitch "multi-listing" as a way to show up across a metro. Google allows a service business without a storefront one profile, and more only for locations with separate staff and service areas; virtual offices aren't eligible.9 Profiles that break these rules can be suspended, and if Google restricts the account that manages them, every profile under it goes down.11 See why home service profiles get suspended.
  • A promise to "get fake listings removed." Anyone can flag a listing; only Google removes it. An honest agency says so.
  • Leads with no name on them. If the agency can't tell you where a call came from or whether it was also sent to a competitor, you can't judge what it costs.

What does garage door marketing cost in 2026?

Ten of the 29 garage door-ranking agencies published prices, the highest count of any trade.2 One garage door specialist listed plans from $495 (website and follow-up only) to $4,995 a month plus setup fees and ad spend; another agency on the page started at $197 a month for basic local SEO, and most started above $1,000. Across all 17 US agencies on page 1 with a starting monthly price, the median was $1,500.2

Ad costs vary by job. In the small SearchLight sample, Google Ads non-branded leads cost about $173, against $49 for Local Services Ads.7 Ask for spring and opener jobs to be reported separately from new-door installs.

What the first 90 days with a garage door agency should look like

WhenWhat you should see
Week 1–2A baseline: where you show up across your service area today, your booking rate from recorded calls, and current cost per booked job by source. If there's no baseline, there's nothing to measure against later.
Days 15–30Call tracking with job-type tags; Business Profile verified and categories fixed; advanced verification started if you advertise; a first map of suspicious competitor listings.
Days 31–90Monthly competitor map with flagged listings and reports filed; booking-rate coaching from scored calls; separate reporting for springs, openers and new doors.
Day 90A one-page review: calls, booked jobs, revenue and cost per booked job by source against the baseline, a rescan of your map, and a plain answer on what to keep, change or stop.

Rankings on Google Maps can move within weeks of fixing categories, hours and reviews, and paid campaigns usually produce calls the first week. New pages usually take longer to earn traffic. Be wary of anyone who promises a specific ranking or lead count by a date, and equally wary of anyone who can't tell you what they'll have done by day 30.

Questions owners ask

Who are the best garage door marketing companies?

We don't publish a ranked list, and we'd be careful with the ones that rank on Google. In our October 2026 audit, the publisher put itself first in 59% of the "best agency" lists on page 1, and none showed prices for every agency listed.2 The best agency for you is the one that can show cost per booked job for a company your size, in your trade, from real job data. Use the scorecard on this page in every pitch.

How much do garage door companies pay for marketing?

Among agencies ranking for garage door searches, entry prices ran from $197 a month for basic local SEO to about $2,900, and most started above $1,000. One garage door specialist's plans ran from $495 (website and follow-up only) to $4,995 a month, plus setup fees and ad spend.2

Can a marketing agency remove fake garage door listings?

No. An agency can flag listings and file reports with evidence; Google decides what's removed. Google removed more than 13 million fake Business Profiles in 2025.8

Do I need advanced verification to advertise a garage door company?

Yes, for Google Ads in the US and Canada; Local Services Ads has its own screening. LocaliQ describes license and registration checks, a fraud-history review and a video interview, taking about two weeks.4

Why is booking rate so important in garage door?

Because calls are urgent and price-shopped, and garage door companies booked 31% of calls in ServiceTitan's June 2022 data, tied for the lowest of any trade.1 Each point of booking rate is a job you already paid for.

About the audit: on October 18, 2026 we pulled Google's first page (US, desktop) for 30 searches an owner might type when shopping for an agency, six per trade plus six for home services in general (for example "hvac marketing agency", "plumbing seo", "best pest control marketing agency", "garage door advertising"). That returned 262 results from 150 websites; we scored 146 of them (YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and Reddit were counted but not scored), and 100 were agencies. We captured each site's home page, its ranking page and any pricing page, and scored them against a fixed checklist using only what the pages say. If a page didn't mention something, we counted it as not stated, which isn't proof the agency doesn't do it. Seven sites returned no readable text. Entry prices count only US-based firms' lowest monthly price for an ongoing program. Full method and per-trade tables are in the audit.2
