What should a plumbing marketing agency deliver?
Plumbing is the trade where the call itself is the product. A homeowner with a burst pipe usually books one of the first companies that answers, so the agency's job doesn't end when the phone rings. It ends when the job is booked.
Cost per booked job = cost per lead ÷ booking rateIn May 2026, plumbing Local Services Ads leads cost $69.26 and 43% were booked: about $161 per booked job.3 Raise the booking rate to 55% and the same lead costs about $126 per booked job, with no change in ad spend.
So a plumbing agency should report booked jobs by job type (drain, water heater, sewer, repipe) and by hour of day, because after-hours calls are urgent and the most likely to go to voicemail.

Red flags in a plumbing marketing pitch
- A ranking guarantee. Google's own guidance to business owners says: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." It also warns about anyone claiming a "special relationship" with Google.11 In our audit, 1 of 100 agencies guaranteed Google rankings and 1 guaranteed AI citations; 14 more offered refunds, lead targets, performance terms or a general results promise. Refunds and fee terms are a different and more reasonable thing to ask about.2
- Reports built on impressions, clicks and "visibility." They're easy to grow and hard to bank. Ask for calls, booked jobs and revenue by source, pulled from your own field software.
- Nobody asks about your capacity. An agency that doesn't ask how many techs you have, how full the board is and which jobs you want more of is selling a package, not solving your problem. Google tells owners the same thing: a good SEO should ask what makes your business unique and who your competitors are.11
- Extra Google profiles in towns where you have no staffed office. Some agencies pitch "multi-listing" as a way to show up across a metro. Google allows a service business without a storefront one profile, and more only for locations with separate staff and service areas; virtual offices aren't eligible.10 Profiles that break these rules can be suspended, and if Google restricts the account that manages them, every profile under it goes down.12 See why home service profiles get suspended.
- "24/7" in every ad with no plan for who answers. It brings the calls you're least able to book.
- One blended cost per lead. A $70 drain lead and a $70 sewer lead aren't the same purchase. Ask for job-type reporting.
What does plumbing marketing cost in 2026?
Eight of the 24 plumbing-ranking agencies published prices.2 One plumbing and HVAC specialist listed a $2,495-a-month core program plus a $5,000 setup fee, with separate fees for Google Ads and Local Services Ads management; a large trades-focused agency said its plumbing packages run from $2,500 to over $10,000 a month. Across all 17 US agencies on page 1 with a starting monthly price, the median was $1,500.2
Ad spend comes on top. Early 2026 SearchLight figures, reported by The Valley Marketing Group, put plumbing Local Services Ads leads at about $57 and drain and sewer at $59, while plumbing non-branded Google Ads leads averaged about $167.13
Which kind of agency fits a plumbing shop?
| Type | Strength | Watch for | Often fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Large national agency (all industries) | Deep bench, mature processes, big case-study library | Your account may be small for them; plumbing know-how varies by team | Multi-location plumbing with a marketing manager |
| Home services specialist | Speaks the language of booked jobs, techs and seasons | Some run the same playbook for every client and trade | Most owner-run plumbing shops |
| Single-trade specialist | Knows your trade's calls, jobs and seasons cold | Rare: 6 of the 100 agencies in our audit served one trade only | Owners who want plumbing depth above all |
| Your field software's marketing add-on | Data already connected to your jobs | Usually narrower scope; check what's done for you and what's self-serve | Shops deep in one field-software platform |
| Lead marketplace (Angi, Thumbtack and similar) | Calls this week, no setup | Leads are often shared with competitors; the demand stays with the marketplace | Covering a slow week |
| Freelancer or local generalist | Low cost, close by | Coverage gaps when they're busy or move on | 1–3 truck shops testing the basics |
Fit notes are our judgment from working with owner-run shops, not survey data. The single-trade count comes from our page-one audit.2
What the first 90 days with a plumbing agency should look like
| When | What you should see |
|---|---|
| Week 1–2 | A baseline: where you show up across your service area today, your booking rate from recorded calls, and current cost per booked job by source. If there's no baseline, there's nothing to measure against later. |
| Days 15–30 | Call tracking with job-type tagging; after-hours answering and missed-call text-back live; Google hours corrected; Local Services Ads job types and areas tightened. |
| Days 31–90 | Reports by job type and hour of day; review requests after every job; new service pages for the jobs you want more of, such as water heaters or sewer work. |
| Day 90 | A one-page review: calls, booked jobs, revenue and cost per booked job by source against the baseline, a rescan of your map, and a plain answer on what to keep, change or stop. |
Rankings on Google Maps can move within weeks of fixing categories, hours and reviews, and paid campaigns usually produce calls the first week. New pages usually take longer to earn traffic. Be wary of anyone who promises a specific ranking or lead count by a date, and equally wary of anyone who can't tell you what they'll have done by day 30.

Questions owners ask
Who are the best plumbing marketing companies?
We don't publish a ranked list, and we'd be careful with the ones that rank on Google. In our October 2026 audit, the publisher put itself first in 59% of the "best agency" lists on page 1, and none showed prices for every agency listed.2 The best agency for you is the one that can show cost per booked job for a company your size, in your trade, from real job data. Use the scorecard on this page in every pitch.
How much do plumbers pay for marketing?
On Google's first page, entry prices for an ongoing program had a median of about $1,500 a month. Among agencies ranking for plumbing searches they ran from $249 to $2,495, plus ad spend.2 A plumbing LSA booked job cost about $161 in May 2026.3
Are Local Services Ads worth it for plumbers?
Often, if you answer the phone. At $69 a lead and 43% booked, LSA cost about $161 per booked job in May 2026.3 Missed calls during business hours can still be billed, so answer rate is a cost.4
What should a plumbing marketing report include?
Calls, booked jobs and revenue by source, split by job type and by business hours versus after-hours, plus your booking rate and cost per booked job.
How fast should a plumbing agency get results?
Paid campaigns and LSA usually produce calls in the first week. Fixing hours, categories and reviews can move Google Maps within weeks. New pages take longer.

About the audit: on October 18, 2026 we pulled Google's first page (US, desktop) for 30 searches an owner might type when shopping for an agency, six per trade plus six for home services in general (for example "hvac marketing agency", "plumbing seo", "best pest control marketing agency", "garage door advertising"). That returned 262 results from 150 websites; we scored 146 of them (YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and Reddit were counted but not scored), and 100 were agencies. We captured each site's home page, its ranking page and any pricing page, and scored them against a fixed checklist using only what the pages say. If a page didn't mention something, we counted it as not stated, which isn't proof the agency doesn't do it. Seven sites returned no readable text. Entry prices count only US-based firms' lowest monthly price for an ongoing program. Full method and per-trade tables are in the audit.2
