Why is this guide different from the software lists on Google?
Search "field service software for HVAC" and most of what you read comes from software companies. On October 19, 2026 we pulled Google's first page of US results for three of these searches: field service software for HVAC, HVAC software and plumbing software. Of the 24 regular results, 20 were published by software companies, two were Reddit threads and two came from a consultant or a blogger. Vendor pages are useful, and we link to them below for prices and setup steps.
So this guide does two things. It lays out what each common platform says publicly about price and trade fit, with the date we checked. And it covers the part that decides whether your marketing can be judged at all: setting up lead sources, call tracking and booked-job reporting so the software tells you which sources book jobs and bring revenue.
Disclosure. Isoline Growth has no partnerships, referral fees or affiliate links with any software company named here. Nobody paid to be listed, and we don't rank them.
Which field service software fits an owner-run shop, by trade and size?
Start with how a platform prices, because that tells you who it's built for. Housecall Pro's plans include 1, 5 or 8 users, and Jobber's published tiers run from 1 to 15 users.1,2 ServiceTitan prices per technician, by quote.5 Service Fusion includes unlimited users on every plan.3 Pest platforms price by your book of business: GorillaDesk by route and FieldRoutes by active customers.4,7
- HVAC and plumbing. All-in-one platforms (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, Workiz, Service Fusion) and platforms built around service trades (FieldEdge, Successware). The deciding questions for a 5 to 50 person shop are usually price book and estimates, memberships, dispatch board and how reporting handles replacements.
- Pest control. Recurring routes and renewals change the job. FieldRoutes, PestPac, GorillaDesk and Briostack are built around recurring service and routing. General platforms can run recurring work too; check how they handle routes, renewals and cancels.
- Garage door. We found no large platform built only for garage door companies among the ones owners usually shortlist. Housecall Pro, Jobber and Workiz each publish a garage door page, and ServiceTitan has published a garage door customer story.10,11,12,13 Pick on scheduling, estimates for doors and openers, and how well it separates spring repairs from installs.
None of this makes one platform "best." A shop that already runs well on Jobber gains little from a move to ServiceTitan, and a 30-tech HVAC company may outgrow a tool sold by the user seat. The rest of this guide helps you get booked-job reporting out of whatever you run.
How do the main platforms compare on price and source reporting?
What each vendor says publicly, read on Oct 19, 2026. "Look for" and "ask" mean the vendor's public pages don't describe the feature; it may still exist on your plan.
| Platform | Trade fit | Pricing, Oct 19, 2026 | What it reports by source |
|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceTitanAll-in-one, priced per technician | HVAC, plumbing, electrical; garage door customers among them13 | Quote only, per technician. Plans: Starter, Essentials, The Works.5 | Campaigns tied to tracking numbers. Marketing Scorecards show leads, inbound booked, sold and revenue by campaign.14,15 |
| Housecall ProAll-in-one for smaller teams | Many trades, with an HVAC page and a garage door page10 | Published: $59, $149, $299 a month billed yearly ($79, $189, $329 monthly) for 1, 5 and 8 users.1 | Lead source on customers and jobs. Tracking numbers tied to a lead source (add-on). ROI table: spend, jobs, job revenue by source.16,17,18 |
| JobberAll-in-one for smaller teams | Many trades, with a garage door page11 | Published: $49, $139, $199 a month for one user, billed monthly (Core, Connect, Grow); lower billed yearly.2 | Lead source on clients. Lead source report: leads, leads with a job, first-invoice value. No call tracking listed on the pricing page.19,20 |
| FieldEdgeService trades | HVAC | Quote only (Select, Premier, Elite).21 | Lead Tracking on every plan; prospect tracking on Premier and Elite. Call tracking not listed.21 |
| SuccesswareService trades | HVAC, plumbing, electrical and others22 | No published price; demo request.22 | Lists sales and marketing tools. Source reporting not described on its public pages: ask in the demo.22 |
| WorkizAll-in-one with a built-in phone | Many trades, with a garage door page12 | Quote only (Standard, Pro, Ultimate).23 | Ad groups (job sources) on each job; phone system with ad tracking; reports filter by ad group.23,24 |
| Service FusionAll-in-one, unlimited users | Many trades, with an HVAC page | Published: $208, $325, $533 a month billed yearly ($245, $382, $627 monthly).3 | General reporting on every plan; call tracking through a paid add-on. Ask for a jobs-and-revenue-by-source report.3 |
| FieldRoutesPest control | Pest control | Quote only; the subscription depends on active customers.7 | Lead management on both plans. Source reporting not described on the pricing page.7 |
| PestPac (WorkWave)Pest control | Pest control | Quote-based.6 | Lead tracking with a unique URL and phone number per campaign; cost per lead and ROI reports.25 |
| GorillaDeskRoute-based small businesses | Pest control, lawn, pool and other route work | Published: from $49 (Basic) and $99 (Pro) a month per route, month to month.4 | Not described on the pages we could read. Ask for a report of new accounts by source. |
| BriostackPest control | Pest control | Base price not published; add-on and migration fees are.26 | Not described on the pages we could read. Ask for a report of new accounts by source. |
Trade fit comes from each vendor's own industry pages. Prices exclude taxes, payment processing, add-ons and promotions; Jobber was running a discount for new customers through October 30, 2026.2 Workiz's pricing table lists its phone system as sold separately while its FAQ says call tracking comes with every plan, so confirm on a quote.23
What do ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber and the pest platforms cost?
Four of the 11 publish prices. As of Oct 19, 2026:
- Housecall Pro: Basic $59, Essentials $149 and Max $299 a month billed yearly, or $79, $189 and $329 billed monthly, for 1, 5 and 8 users. Max adds users at $35 a month each.1
- Jobber: Core $49, Connect $139 and Grow $199 a month for one user, billed monthly, with yearly billing cheaper and extra users at $29 a month each. Grow runs $499 a month for 15 users, billed monthly.2
- Service Fusion: Starter $208, Plus $325 and Pro $533 a month billed yearly ($245, $382 and $627 monthly), unlimited users.3
- GorillaDesk: from $49 a month (Basic) and $99 (Pro) per route, month to month, no setup fees.4
ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, Workiz, FieldRoutes and PestPac show "request pricing" or "quote-based" on their own pages, and Successware has no pricing page.5,6,7,21,22,23 Briostack publishes its add-on fees but not its base price.26
For a quoted platform, ask for the full first-year cost in writing: subscription, onboarding and data migration, payments, the phone or call-tracking add-on, the marketing add-on, and how price rises when you add techs or routes. Marketing reporting often sits in an add-on. ServiceTitan's campaign reports show extra marketing columns with Marketing Pro, and custom source and medium options need Marketing Pro Ads.15,27 FieldEdge's MarketingEdge is a "call for pricing" add-on on two of its three plans, and Housecall Pro sells call tracking as an add-on.17,21
Why can't most owners see booked jobs by source in their software?
The software can usually do it. The setup is what's missing. In a 2026 survey of nearly 1,000 home services business leaders, 67% said they can't connect marketing spend directly to revenue.8 The same handful of gaps show up again and again:
- The lead source is blank or wrong. If the field is optional, a busy CSR skips it or picks "Google" for everything. Then a Local Services Ads lead, a Maps call and a paid search click all look the same.
- One phone number everywhere. Your truck, website, Google listing and ads all ring the same line, so no report can tell which one made the phone ring. Each paid source needs its own tracking number routed into the software.
- Spend never gets entered. Housecall Pro's ROI table, for one, needs you to add monthly spend by lead source before it can show return.18
- Repeat customers counted as new. A member calling for a tune-up isn't a marketing result. Report new customers by source, and keep repeat work on its own line.
- Different definitions of revenue. Jobber's lead source report counts the first invoice linked to each lead, so a repair that turns into a replacement later shows only the repair.20 Know what your report counts before you judge a source on it.
Agencies rarely fix this for you. In our audit of the 100 marketing agencies on Google's first page for 30 agency searches, 10% mentioned reporting from field software.9
How do you set up lead sources and call tracking for booked-job reporting?
The same seven steps work in any platform. Do them once, then check monthly.
- Write a short source list. Eight or fewer: Google Business Profile and Maps, Local Services Ads, Google Ads, website and organic search, referral and repeat, lead marketplaces, mailers and signs, and Other. Use the same names in the software, the call tracking tool and your scorecard.
- Give each paid source its own tracking number. Route each number into the software tied to its lead source, so calls are tagged without anyone typing. On your Google Business Profile, Google lets you add up to 2 more numbers besides the primary, so your main line can stay on the listing.28
- Make the lead source required at booking. Every new customer and every new job gets one. For untracked calls the CSR asks "How did you hear about us?" and picks from the list.
- Keep new and repeat separate. New customers by source is the marketing number. Members, warranty and callbacks go on their own lines.
- Define a booked job. A job or in-home estimate with a time on the schedule. Count it the same way every month.
- Enter spend by source every month. Ads, Local Services Ads, marketplaces, mailers and agency fees. Without spend, the software shows jobs but not cost per booked job.
- Reconcile once a month. Pull booked jobs and revenue by source, compare with your call tracking, and listen to 20 recorded calls to see why calls didn't book. Our free booked-job scorecard holds the numbers.
What are the setup steps in each platform?
Steps below come from each vendor's help center, with the date of the article. Where a vendor doesn't publish the click path, we say what to look for.
ServiceTitan
Add a campaign under Settings, then Operations > Campaigns, and click Add. Give it a name, a category and the advertised number, using a unique tracking number for each campaign; automatic tracking needs ServiceTitan's phone integration. CSRs can also attach a campaign to any call in the Campaign field under Job Details on the Call Booking screen.15 On Marketing Pro v2 the path is Marketing > Campaigns > Campaign Manager > Create Campaign > Tracking Campaign.29 To read results, the Marketing Scorecards section of the Dashboard lists each campaign with Leads, Inbound Booked, Sold, Inbound Booked % and Revenue, and Reports > Create Report > Marketing > Campaign Summary builds a monthly report.14,27 If you use CallRail, its ServiceTitan integration sends tracked calls with source, medium and campaign data; it needs ServiceTitan's Marketing Pro Ads package.30
Housecall Pro
Create sources under Settings > Lead Sources > + Create lead source. Set the source on a new customer in the Notes section, or on an existing customer's Profile tab; on jobs and estimates, use the Lead source button.16 For call tracking (an add-on), go to Settings > Inbox > Phone Numbers > Add number, pick the lead source and destination, choose an area code and save; then put that number on the ad source.17 Results live in Marketing > Dashboard, in the ROI table: marketing spend, new customers, jobs scheduled, job revenue and ROI by lead source. Add spend by source and month with Add spend.18
Jobber
The Lead Source field sits in the Lead information section when you add or edit a client; create new sources from that dropdown and use Edit custom lead sources to rename them. Jobber lists it on Core, Connect and Grow.19 Clients who book through Google's Local Services Ads with Jobber's integration get "Google" filled in automatically.31 Read results in the Lead source report, filed under Business Health in Jobber's help center: Leads, Leads with job and Invoice value.20 Jobber's pricing page doesn't list call tracking.2 With the CallRail integration, Jobber's help center says CallRail matches each call to a client by phone number (creating one if needed) and adds the marketing source, medium, campaign and keywords to that client; it syncs calls only (texts and form submissions don't sync), and it's on select plans.32,33 The article doesn't say whether that also fills Jobber's Lead Source field, which drives the Lead source report, so check that tracked calls land with the right lead source.
Workiz
Workiz calls lead sources ad groups. Go to the profile icon > Settings > Job Settings > Ad Groups and select Add New; pick the ad group from a dropdown when you create each job. Jobs, Leads and Call Tracking reports filter by ad group.24 Its built-in phone lists ad tracking; confirm your plan includes it.23
FieldEdge, Successware and Service Fusion
FieldEdge lists Lead Tracking on every plan.21 Service Fusion sells call tracking through an add-on.3 Neither publishes a report path we could confirm, and Successware's public pages don't describe source reporting.22 Look for a source or campaign field on the customer and the job, a way to tie tracking numbers to it, and a report of booked jobs and invoiced revenue by source. Ask the vendor to show that report with your data before you sign or renew.
FieldRoutes, PestPac, GorillaDesk and Briostack
PestPac's lead management data sheet describes a unique URL and phone number per campaign, with cost per lead, acquisition cost, conversion and ROI reports; ask whether your package includes it.25 FieldRoutes lists lead management on both plans.7 As of CallRail's April 2024 reply, CallRail had no native FieldRoutes integration.34 For FieldRoutes, GorillaDesk and Briostack we couldn't confirm menu paths from public help pages, so look for a source field on new subscriptions and a sales or subscription report you can filter by source.
HVAC: how should the software report replacements and memberships by source?
Track sold replacements by source, along with booked calls. A booked daytime call from someone asking about a new system is worth about $3,955 in our trade value model once estimates that don't close are counted, against about $1,250 for the average booked HVAC call.35 Two sources with the same booked calls can be far apart in value. Book replacement estimates as their own job type, and check the sold column by source: ServiceTitan's Marketing Scorecards show Sold next to Inbound Booked.14 Count new maintenance members by source too, because members bring the repair and replacement work later.
Plumbing: how do you see after-hours and emergency calls by source?
Tag after-hours and emergency jobs so you can see them by source. A booked emergency plumbing call is worth about $801 on the first job in our model, against $567 for the average plumbing call.35 Plumbing booked 43% of calls in ServiceTitan's June 2022 data, the highest of the trades it reported.36 If the after-hours line goes to an answering service, make sure its bookings land in the software with the source intact. Our answering service guide covers how to check.
Pest control: how do you report recurring plans by source?
Judge sources on plans started and kept. A booked general pest call is worth about $179 on the first visit and $404 over 12 months in our model, because the plan carries the value.35 Report new recurring accounts by source each month, and cancels in the first 90 days by the source that sold them; a cheap source that cancels fast costs more than it looks. Our pest control customer value calculator puts a number on one plan customer.
Garage door: how do you keep spam and repair calls from skewing the numbers?
Split spring and repair jobs from new doors and openers, and report both by source. We value a booked spring call at about $623 on the first job.35 Garage door and water treatment booked 31% of calls in ServiceTitan's June 2022 data, lower than plumbing or HVAC.36 Count only real prospects as leads: leave sales calls, spam and wrong numbers out, or a source with a lot of junk calls will look like it books poorly.
What does switching field service software cost, and when should you switch?
Most of the cost is time: moving customer and equipment history, rebuilding the price book, setting up forms and memberships, and training techs and the office. Some vendors publish migration fees. Briostack, for one, lists $150 for non-standard data work and $900 to combine databases.26 Ask every vendor for the full migration and onboarding cost in writing, and for how long their typical shop your size takes to go live.
Switch in your slow season. For HVAC that usually means spring or fall, between heating and cooling peaks; for pest control, winter; plumbing is less seasonal, so pick a month with no planned hiring or price changes. Avoid going live in the first heat wave or the first cold snap.
Before you switch, export every customer with their lead source and first job date. Lead source history is easy to lose in a migration, and without it you can't compare this year's sources with last year's. If you're switching only to get marketing reports, first check whether your current platform can produce them with the setup above. Most of the ones in the table can.
Where does Isoline fit?
Whatever you run, the Booked-Job Audit ($1,500) checks whether your software reports booked jobs by source, scores 20 recorded calls and gives a ranked fix plan. The Growth Program reports from your own field software every month.
Start free if you'd like: the free map scan shows where you show up on Google Maps across your service area, and the booked-job scorecard gives you a monthly sheet for booked jobs, revenue and cost per booked job by source. Your Google listing and ad accounts stay in your name.
We have no software partnerships, referral fees or affiliate links, and we don't resell software.
Questions owners ask
What is the best field service software for a small HVAC company?
We don't rank them. Start with team size, trade and budget: Housecall Pro and Jobber publish plans sized by users, ServiceTitan quotes per technician, and FieldEdge and Successware are built around service trades.1,2,5,21,22 Then ask each vendor to show booked jobs and revenue by lead source with sample data.
How much does ServiceTitan cost?
ServiceTitan doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page shows Starter, Essentials and The Works with a request-pricing button and says pricing is per technician (checked October 19, 2026).5 Ask for the full first-year cost, including onboarding and any marketing add-on.
Housecall Pro vs Jobber: which one reports marketing better?
Both store a lead source on each customer. Housecall Pro's ROI table shows spend, jobs and job revenue by source, and it sells tracking numbers tied to lead sources as an add-on.17,18 Jobber's lead source report shows leads, leads with a job and first-invoice value; its pricing page doesn't list call tracking.2,20
Can field service software tell which ad a call came from?
Only when each source has its own tracking number routed into the software. ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Workiz describe this in their own help or pricing pages; other platforms rely on integrations with call tracking tools.15,17,23,30
What software do pest control companies use for recurring routes?
Pest-specific platforms such as FieldRoutes, PestPac, GorillaDesk and Briostack are built around recurring service and routes, and general platforms can also run recurring work. Whichever you use, report new recurring accounts and early cancels by source.
When is the best time to switch field service software?
Your slow season: spring or fall for HVAC, winter for pest control. Export every customer with lead source and first job date before you move, so you keep a year-over-year view of your sources.
Do I need call tracking if my software has lead sources?
For calls, yes. A lead source a CSR picks from memory is often wrong or blank. A tracking number per paid source tags the call before anyone answers, and the CSR's question covers the untracked rest.
Does Isoline get paid by any software company?
No. We have no partnerships, referral fees or affiliate links with any vendor on this page. We work with whatever software a client already runs and report from it.

How we compiled this guide: on Oct 19, 2026 we read each vendor's own pricing page and recorded plan names, published prices and whether pricing is quote-only. Setup steps come only from vendors' help centers, dated by article; where a vendor doesn't publish the steps, we say "look for". Trade fit comes from each vendor's industry pages. In a check of Google's first page on Oct 19, 2026, of 24 regular first-page results for three software searches, 20 came from software companies. Booked call values come from our trade value model (v1.0, October 2026, base case), with job-mix shares and several margins labeled as assumptions.35 Isoline Growth has no partnerships, referral fees or affiliate links with any vendor named.
